Naming Ceremonies

Naming Ceremonies are a popular and meaningful way of welcoming the arrival of a child into the family, whether a new born baby, an older child, an adopted child or step children. As your Gold Coast Marriage Celebrant I can tailor a ceremony to suit your individual needs.

The ceremony recognises the role of the parents who often share their commitment, hopes and wishes for their child. It also recognises the roles of Grandparents, Guardians or special family friends who may have an influence on the child’s upbringing.

As there are no specific legalities for this ceremony you can incorporate themes, ideas, readings or any symbol you feel is meaningful to you.

As a general guide a naming ceremony may include

Introduction & Welcome
Acknowledgement of siblings or any special people involved in the ceremony.
Readings/Poetry – these can be incorporated at any point in the ceremony
Any special symbolic rituals e.g candle lighting, wishes box.
Gift presented to the child – memorable keep sake
Parent’s promises
Grandparents / Guardian promises.
The naming of the child.
Signing of the Naming Certificate
Closing Good Wishes.

A Commitment Ceremony is not a legal and binding marriage arrangement. Some couples, who for their own reasons due to legal, cultural or same sex wish to express their love and commitment to each other will take part in a commitment ceremony. As your Gold Coast Marriage Celebrant my role is to assist you in making the ceremony as memorable as a marriage ceremony.

The ceremony may also be in remembrance of times past and hopes for the future and can involve the participation of friends, family and children.

Renewal of Vows Ceremony

The Renewal of Vows ceremony is popular with couples wishing to renew their vows on a significant milestone in their marriage such as a wedding anniversary. The vows may be the original vows from their marriage or vows re-written by the couple celebrating their lives together and their wishes for the future.

The ceremony also provides an opportunity to thank each other for their friendship, love and ongoing commitment to each other.

The ceremony often follows a similar format and flow to a marriage ceremony and can be uniquely adapted to suit the couple’s desires.

These ceremonies have no legal effect and are not legally binding to those participating but celebrate the re affirmation of your marriage.

The Renewal of Vows can also include a commemorative certificate, signed by two witnesses at the event. As your Gold Coast Marriage Celebrant the ceremony can be unique to you : your day – your way!
